Centre for Translation Studies

The Centre for Translation Studies (Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft, ZTW) at the University of Vienna, Austria, is one of 20 academic units (faculties and centres) of the University of Vienna. In addition to the area of teaching (transcultural communication, translation studies, translation and interpreting education in 14 languages), the Centre conducts research in several key research areas. Cutting-edge research is conducted by professors, habilitated staff members, predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers, senior lecturers and many more. More than 120 lecturers teach translation-related subjects to about 3,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Centre also has a strong research tradition in different fields of public service interpreting.

Department of Translation Studies

The Department of Translation Studies at the University of Maribor was established in 2008. It is one of 12 Departments of the Faculty of Arts. In the area of teaching the Department has seven habilitated staff members and 16 contractual lecturers and has been focusing on translation and interpreting education in four languages (English, German, Hungarian and Croatian). The research is conducted mainly in the areas of history of translation, literary translation, stylistics in translation, identity construction of translators and interpreters, translation didactics and conference interpreting. Since 2018 the Department has been devoting special attention to research into interpreting in the refugee context, thus establishing a firm base of research in this field with the necessary access to a network of interpreting practitioners and stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, associations)

Combining expertise from game-, media- and education studies, the Center for Applied Game Studies aims to address the complex relationships between games and society in teaching and research. Ionian University

Department of Foreign Languages Translation and Interpreting

The Department of Foreign Languages Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) is the only University Department in Greece offering Undergraduate Studies in Translation and Interpreting with focus on the Greek language. DFLTI is part of Ionian University’s Faculty of Humanities and was established in Corfu in 1986. Since 1991/92 academic year, the single degree of the Department has been divided into two Specializations: Translation and Interpreting. DFLTI connects the academic world to the market through collaborations with professional associations and institutions employing translators and interpreters. Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje

“Blaze Koneski” Faculty of Philology (Department of Translation and Interpreting) and Faculty of Dramatic Arts

The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, more precisely, the Department of Translation and Interpreting, in cooperation with the academic staff of a range of philological departments at the “Blaze Koneski” Faculty of Philology, has extensive experience in providing undergraduate studies for interpreters and translators in four working languages (Macedonian, English, German, and French) since 1997. The Master in Conference Interpreting was launched in 2007 with the financial and logistic support of DG Interpreting of the EC. In addition, the University in Skopje has undergone a respective number of training projects for lay interpreters. The latest project implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia and UNHCR provided training for lay interpreters in refugee camps (2019). The Skopje Faculty of Dramatic Arts is also involved and has ample experience in the production of multimodal/audiovisual material. The involvement of this faculty will help to ensure a state-of-the-art implementation of the pod/vodcasts and the post-production of some educasts.
